East Asia is an incredibly dynamic region of the world, which has seen massive social change in the last few decades. However, the dramatic economic success in some areas provides a stark contrast to the hundreds of millions of people still living desperately impoverished lives. There is great diversity in this region, from the steppe of Mongolia to the big cities of China; to the lush tropics of the different countries in Southeast Asia. Given the sheer numbers of people in this region, there are numerous opportunities to use your vocational and professional skills to bring the good news in word and deed.
Examples of Interserve projects in the region:
Engineering, forestry, language teaching, business, human rights advocacy, working with street children, working with prostitutes, teaching English.
