How can I be used in mission?
There are two basic questions we must ask as people explore mission service.
1. Before God, and as best can be discerned, does serving cross-culturally, and serving overseas through Interserve look like the most obedient next step in my walk (my family's walk) of discipleship?
2. What is the best role for me (my family) overseas?
At Interserve we offer long term and short term assignments including medical electives.
We have lists of opportunities that urgently need to be filled!
The temptation for us and for the enquirer is so often to begin to describe or manufacture a role early - it's enticing! There are so many opportunities and so many needs!
People need to know that they could probably be used, but rather than handing out position descriptions too early we aim to:
1. Learn about the person, their passions and skills
2. Listen to God's leading and shaping, seeking to understand a fuller picture
Often, through a proper order of exploration as the one we have outlined, unexpected, exciting, creative and 'left-field' types of assignments can emerge.
If we focus on finding answers to the second question too early, neglecting the first question we can be discouraged through poor results.
Our lists of opportunities were created to help people like you get an idea of how their skills might be used to serve Christ overseas. The
best way forward if you are wondering about cross-cultural mission is to begin a relationship with our staff, get involved in our networks and pray and see where God leads. We know that
God has a plan and purpose for your life and he will open and close doors for you as you pray and explore.
We are here to pray with you and assist you in whatever way you need. Have a look at our opportunities, but if you'd like to put your toe in the water, why don't you contact us?
