Interserve is all about making Christ known across cultures by word and action in countries where otherwise He wouldn't be known. By placing Christians with skills in these areas to serve individuals, churches and communities with Wholistic care, they are being real salt and light of this world. In the beginning… Interserve began in 1852 when a group of teachers and medically trained Christian women from England showed great love and compassion to the women and children of India's Zenanas (women's quarters). Amazing breakthroughs were made. The first women's hospitals in India were founded; orphanages and schools were started, including the first blind school; the Bible was taught and the good news of Christ shared. In 1957 the organisation became the Bible and Medical Missionary Fellowship (BMMF). The name Interserve was finally adopted in 1987, reflecting our charter to serve people internationally. Interserve continues to grow around the world. We now have 14 sending countries and over 20 receiving countries in Asia, Northern Africa and in the Arab World where our seconded agencies work in partnership with us to ensure the work of our Partners reach those who need it the most and that the best care is being offered to our Partners in their host countries. We currently have over 600 Christians around the world filling job positions that are in great demand, such as teachers, medical specialists, development workers, Bible teachers. >> who we are - fully accountable
